"The 2019 Viré-Clessé is a cuvée predesigned to be what you might call a consumer-friendly Mâconnais from less noble terroirs. I can see how the bouquet would instantly entrance the casual drinker with clean and pure red apple and lime cordial scents. A rare wine, which is enjoyed on its own, as an aperitif. The color is of a crystalline purity, barely tinged with green. The nose reveals fresh aromas of flowers and fruits (lemon notes) with sometimes spicy notes of coriander. On the palate, an aromatic harmony that has elegance and character. The breadth of the Grand Cru and the iodized notes of the Kimmeridgian pebble. A remarkable persistence, long and complex.
