This Gold Medal-winning bubbly (Concours des Vins Burgondia) has suggestions of toasted bread and nuts on both the nose and palate, with tangy citrus and a hint of tea. Vecchia Cantina Chianti Riserva 2021
This terrific Tuscan value comes from carefully selected grapes 400 metres above sea level on top of a limestone ridge adjacent to the ancient village of Montepulciano. The grapes are hand harvested and after a traditional vinification it spends 2 years in oak.
Aromatic, expressive and round, this vintage offers loads of Sangiovese character in a succulent, mid-weight style that will find plenty of admirers. The balance of the texture and freshness makes for a compelling Chianti to drink now and over the next few years. All and all, a terrific Tuscan value!
Chateau d’Aydie Madiran 2016
Deep, intense ruby red. Fine, elegant and complex on the nose, with a blend of black fruit and coffee aromas. It starts off rich and follows through with a mature consistency and silky tannins. Fine, precise woody mouth aromas. An exceptional Madiran, powerful and complex, with unusual potential. This wine can very easily be kept for 7 to 10 years.
Reverdito Barolo Ascheri 2016

Barolo produced here is best described as “warm-hearted”. Michele’s Barolo Ascheri comes from the classic chalky soils of La Morra about 250 meters up the steep hillside, inter-planted with several types of grasses and beans to aid biodiversity and soil structure. The resulting wine has an enticing nose of flowers, ripe strawberries and dark cherries, and a good mouthful of plummy ripe elegant fruit. This deceptively mid-weight Barolo has a ton to offer.
Billaud-Simon Chablis Grand Cru Bougros 2016
The nose is greeted by an enticing bouquet of delicate white flowers, intertwined with subtle notes of citrus blossom and a hint of honeysuckle. Beneath this floral veil lies a mineral core, evocative of wet stones after a summer rain, complemented by whispers of flint and sea breeze, a signature of the Chablis terroir.
Bougros is located on the right bank of the Serein River, in the north west corner of the Grand Cru slope, which flows through the Chablis region. It has a remarkable south east exposure and the steepest slope of all the Chablis Grand Crus.
Springfield Methode Ancienne Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
Thirty-five years ago, Springfeld cleared a 2.8-hectare triangle of land previously ignored because it was not ‘good’ enough - "too rocky and too steep".
Cabernet Sauvignon was planted, struggling at first with virtually no soil. The miracle was in the fruit: tiny berries – intense in colour and flavour, this meagre crop was vinified in the traditional way. No crushing of berries, native yeast only, no fining and no filters.
Wine was made with little intervention and kept for two years in new French barriques. After three more years of maturation in bottle, Springfield releases their top wine. It is a piece of their history, their passion and labour. It is their finest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, and will age effortlessly for another two decades.
