Domaine Pelle
Domaine Pellé is a fourth generation estate run by the talented and hard-working Paul-Henry Pellé. The winery was officially started in the 1950’s, though earlier generations of the Pellé family had produced wine even before then, selling barrels of wine to local Brasseries as far as Brouges in the early 20th century. Paul-Henry’s grandfather, in fact, played an instrumental role in establishment of the Appellation, and lobbied hard for it to be called Menetou-Salon rather than the Coteaux Sancerrois that had been proposed at the time.
Domaine Pelle Menetou-Salon Morogues 2018
Made from several parcels in the village of Morogues. Practicing organic, soils are plowed and completely hand-harvested. Aged in a combo of 70% tank and 30% wood (foudres and used 400L barrels) and for 11 months.
A classic style that is released ready to drink. Quite aromatic on the nose with a rich and powerful palate, quite full bodied for a Sauvignon Blanc and makes a great alternative to Sancerre.
Domaine Pellé Morogues Menetou-Salon 2018
100% Pinot Noir grown on Kimmeridgian marl and limestone. Aged in a combo of 70% wood *Foudres and used 400L barrels) and 30% tank for 12 months.
The terroir of the village of Morogues combined with strict vineyard practices results in a beautiful Pinot that would not be out of place in a tasting of Volnays.
