Taylor Fladgate 1966 Vintage Port
Blandy’s Sercial Madeira 1968
"The Blandys established themselves on Madeira in 1811 and are now in charge of the Madeira Wine Company. Aged for 49 years in seasoned American oak casks before bottling in 2017, this wine is mid-deep amber in colour with an olive-green glint. Fine, lifted woodsmoke characters on the nose are redolent of autumn leaves and bonfires. It has crystallised fruit on the palate with rapier-like power and intensity. The hint of sweetness (59g/l residual sugar) is offset by a streak of acidity, leading to a mouthwateringly fresh greengage finish yielding to a touch of savoury complexity. A wine that sings contralto from the glass." - 99 points Decanter
Grahams 1983 Vintage Port Magnum 1.5L
Graham's Vintage 1983 is a sweet fortified wine considered to be a muscular wine, powerful and age worthy. Black fruit mingles with spice, mint and eucalyptus notes that cause a delicious burst of flavours in the mouth. Purplish-black colour in the glass, balanced, with silky tannins lead to a long, lingering finish.
Treat yourself to a big bottle of this delicacy for a dinner party or Christmas dinner.
Croft 1963 Vintage Port
Taylor Fladgate 1970 Vintage Port
A deep garnet core with a faded brick rim. The nose is still tight, youthful with notes of liquorice, raisin, boot-polish and a little lemongrass. Very well defined. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins, very cohesive with superb ripeness: wild strawberry, lemongrass, smoke and dates with an incredibly long, persistent finish. There is an effortless nature to this wine.
Foncesa Vintage Port 1970
"Fonseca 1970 was the finest bottle I have encountered. The bouquet opens beautifully with heady scents of clove, ginger, small red cherries, bergamot and allspice, displaying exquisite definition and harmony. The palate follows suit with lovely balance and poise in the mouth, notes of kirsch, shaved ginger and walnut building to an opulent, viscous finish that lacquers the mouth. Yet this bottle shows more control than the bottle tasted four years ago." - Robert Parker 95 points
Taylor Fladgate 1994 Vintage Port
Deep crimson just beginning to display some maturity on the rim. The explosive fruitiness of early youth is now more restrained as the wine begins to settle into maturity but the nose is still driven by impressive focused blackberry and blackcurrant aromas set off by the classic Taylor scent of violets. Full bodied and well structured palate delivering rich blackberry and cassis flavours with spicy, figgy, liquorice flavours evolving on the long and sumptuous finish.
Taylor Fladgate 1970 Single Harvest
Pale mahogany core surrounded by a broad pale gold rim with subtle olive highlights. On first impression, the wine is lifted and ethereal but soon begins to unfurl layer after layer of multi-dimensional aroma. First to emerge are notes of sawn wood and cigar leaf, against a background of cedar, balsam and citrus. These are followed by a warmer, mellow redolence of marzipan, walnut and coffee, notes of sultana and plum and spicy hints of black pepper and cardamom. Finally, the nose opens up a discreet savoury dimension, with hints of toast and wild herbs. On the palate, the wine has a smooth, velvety texture. Rich, dense and sumptuous, it coats the tongue with opulent mellow flavour, coffee and butterscotch with hints of walnut and candied orange peel, but with a remarkable freshness from the current of lively acidity which runs through the palate into the extraordinary long finish. A wonderfully elegant, finely constituted and beautifully matured port delivering a surge of rich flavour with every sip.
